Melbourne take control over St Thomas

Kingston, Jamaica - Melbourne took control of the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) two-day Senior Cup clash with Zone D opponents St Thomas CA at the close of day one at the Melbourne Oval yesterday.
Melbourne will begin today's final day on 260-4, some 55 runs ahead of St Thomas, who declared on 205-9 in their first innings knock.

Yesterday, Melbourne had won the toss and put the visitors in to bat first on a flat-looking batting track. St Thomas' middle-order batsman Kashane Roberts struck a top score of 67 runs, including eight boundaries and three sixes. He faced 92 balls.
Bowling for Melbourne, part-time off-spinner Andre McCarthy grabbed 3-35 and national leg-break bowler took Damion Jacobs 3-66.
In response, Melbourne eased into their 55-run lead thanks to Tareque White's top score of 93.
In another Zone D encounter, Kensington reached 56-2 in reply to the 246 all out made by Lucas CC.

Kensington had won the toss and sent in Lucas to take first strike in the match at Up Park Camp. Left-handed batsman Ricardo McGeachy was left stranded on 99 not out as Lucas were bowled out. Junior McKenzie supported with 46.
Also in Zone D, Kingston CC are in a strong position against hosts Boys' Town at the Collie Smith Complex. At the close Kingston had an overall lead of 235 runs with nine wickets remaining in their second innings.

In Zone A, Westmoreland CA took first innings advantage from St James CA at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
Westmoreland ended the day on 190-5 after dismissing St James for a modest 153 all out.

In Zone B, St Catherine CC and GC Foster College were locked in a tight battle at Chedwin Park.
St Catherine CC will resume on 147-6, in reply to GC Foster's first innings score of 170 all out.

In Zone C, the Jamaica Defence Force had the upper hand against Police in the low-scoring clash of the security forces at the Elletson Road playing field.
The JDF were 99-3 in their second innings and have an overall lead of 114 heading into today's final day.

In another Zone C encounter, St Ann CA held the upper hand over hosts St Mary CA at Palmers Park.
At the close St Ann were 80-3 in their second innings and held a comfortable lead of 158 with seven wickets still remaining.
