Manchester come up against giants STETHS in T20 semis

Kingston, Jamaica - Manchester High School will be seeking to defy the odds when they battle St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) in the second semi-final of the Inter-secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA)/Digicel Twenty20 competition at STETHS today.

The first semi-final is scheduled to get on the way at 9:30 am, and the second at 1:00 pm.

Manchester High held their composure to defeat Vere Technical High by one run last week. That win propelled them to this stage of the competition, after having a slightly better net run rate than Wolmer's, but they will have it all to do if they are to upstage their more prolific opponents.

STETHS, who are favoured to win the tournament, will come into the game refreshed, after their contest against Cross Keys High was not played due to inclement weather. The Ramaal Lewis-led bunch is unbeaten all season and will be hard to deny.

The opener of the day between Vere Technical and Eltham High should be evenly contested as both teams are in good form.

Vere Technical High, boasting the likes of skipper Fabian Allen who is one of only a few batsmen to score a century in the competition so far, will start favourites as they will be aiming to bounce back from a tough one-run loss to Manchester last week.

However, the Oral Simpson-coached Eltham coming off a five-wicket victory over St Jago, are hunting their third title this season, and might have a trick or two up their sleeves. It should be an interesting contest and would be no surprise if the young bunch were to topple their older opponents.
