Leg-spinner Martin stars as Antiguans capture LICA 50-Over crown

Phillipsburg, St Maarten - Leg-spinner Anthony Martin bowled Antigua and Barbuda to the NAGICO-sponsored Leeward Islands 50-Over title on Sunday at the Carib Lumber Ballpark in St Maarten. Martin, who played for the West Indies A Team earlier this year, took 5-29 from 10 overs as the defending champions beat Anguilla by two runs in a close final. Antigua and Barbuda made 212 from 40.5 overs and restricted Anguilla to 210-9 off 43 overs in the rain-reduced match.

Antiguans to face Anguillans in Leeward Islands 50-Over final

Phillipsburg, St Maarten - Anguilla will face defending champions Antigua and Barbuda in Sunday’s final of the NAGICO-sponsored Leeward Islands 50-Over Tournament. The Anguillans defeated St Maarten by five wickets off the last ball in their semi-final, while the Antiguans had a hard-fought two-wicket win over Nevis.

Antigua and Barbuda win again in Leewards Tourney

The Valley, Anguilla - Antigua and Barbuda beat Anguilla by 71 runs to maintain their unbeaten record in the NAGICO-sponsored Leeward Islands 50-Over Tournament in the recent round of matches.

The Antiguans made 295-7 from their 50 overs thanks to Wilden Cornwall (70 not out off 49 balls), Rahkeem Cornwall (61) and Kadeem Phillip (60 with six sixes). Then, off-spinner Rahkeem Cornwall then grabbed 3-23 to limit the home team to 224-8 despite unbeaten knocks of 43 from Kelbert Walters and Rondel Lake.

Darren Sammy stars in new role as St Maarten allrounder

The Valley, Anguilla: West Indies allrounder Darren Sammy put in two superb performances as he starred with both bat and ball for St Maarten in their opening matches of the NAGICO-sponsored Leeward Islands 50-over Tournament.

Sammy, who is St Lucian and plays for the Windward Islands, is appearing for St Maarten as a guest player. On Saturday he made 60 and took two wickets but St Maarten lost to Nevis by 12 runs. On Sunday he made 22 and took three wickets as St Maarten rebounded to beat Montserrat by 61 runs.

Leewards One-Day Tournament bowls off today

St John's, Antigua: The best players in the Leeward Islands will take to the fields on Staurday as the annual NAGICO-sponsored Leeward Islands limited-overs tournament bowls off. This year the matches will be played in Anguilla and St Maarten and run until the grand final on Sunday, October 3.

In the opening round today, Anguilla will be at home against Montserrat while St Maarten entertain Nevis. The second round will be played on Sunday, with Antigua and Barbuda against St Kitts in Anguilla and Montserrat facing St Maarten in St Maarten.
