Guyana suffer Deonarine injury blow

Georgetown, Guyana – Reigning champions Guyana have suffered a major blow to their chances of retaining the Caribbean Twenty20 title when ace batsman Narsingh Deonarine picked up a shoulder injury and was withdrawn from their squad.

Dr Hunte sends condolences to Ken Ablack relatives


St John’s, Antigua – WICB President Dr. Julian Hunte has sent condolences to the relatives of former First Class player and long-time commentator Ken Ablack who died in his native Trinidad at the age of 91.

Ablack worked for the BBC’s Test Match Special in the 1950s and served as producer for the BBC.

Between 1946 and 1949 Ablack made three appearances for Northamptonshire as a slow left arm orthodox bowler.

Ablack had best figures of 3 for 32 and took a total of six wickets during his three year career.

Morton to make debut for TT in CT20

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad – Runako Morton, the former Leeward Islands captain, has been named in the Trinidad and Tobago squad for next month’s West Indies Cricket Board’s Caribbean T20 Tournament.

The 32-year-old right-hander was born in Nevis but now lives in Trinidad. Two months ago made the decision to make himself available for Trinidad and Tobago. Morton will come face to face with his old team-mates when the Trinis meet the Leewards in Antigua on Thursday, January 13 at 8 pm (7 pm Jamaica Time).

WICB announces cheap Caribbean T20 ticket prices


St John’s Antigua Fans will not have to dig deeply into their pockets to enjoy the action at the Caribbean Twenty20 matches in Antigua and Barbados.

The West Indies Cricket Board has announced that ticket prices will be minimal with tickets for all matches in Antigua costing a mere EC$10.

Tickets for all preliminary matches and the semi-finals in Barbados will cost BD$10. Tickets for the final on Sunday January 23rd at Kensington Oval will be just BD$15.
