CCC closing in on historic win v LI

NORTH SOUND, Antigua, CMC – Combined Campuses & Colleges were within sight of a historic, maiden victory over Leeward Islands in the WICB Regional first-class championship on Sunday.

NORTH SOUND, Antigua, CMC – Tonito Willett’s 51 and stubborn lower-order resistance failed to stop Combined Campuses & Colleges from claiming first innings points over Leeward lslands in the WICB Regional first-class championship on Saturday.

Willett struck five fours and one six from 89 balls, as Leewards, replying to CCC’s first innings total of 286, were dismissed for 186 inside the first hour after tea on the second day of their third round match at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground.

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – Guyana, trailing by 81 on first innings, reached 98 for nine in their second innings at the close on the second day of their third round match against Windward Islands on Saturday at the Arnos Vale Multi-Purpose Complex.

ICC clears Edwards & Thomas

St John’s, Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board has received confirmation from the International Cricket Council that its Technical Committee has approved Kirk Edwards and Devon Thomas replacing the injured duo of Adrian Barath and Carlton Baugh.

Edwards, the right handed Barbadian strokemaker and Thomas, the effervescent Antigua wicketkeeper/batsman will depart the Caribbean this evening and are scheduled to join the West Indies World Cup squad in India on Monday, February 21.

Following are the tea time scores on Day 2 of Round 3 in the WICB Regional 4 Day tournament:

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – Windward Islands, replying to Guyana’s first innings total of 142, reached 185 for five at the tea break on the second day of their third round match against Windward Islands on Saturday at the Arnos Vale Multi-Purpose Complex.

Scores: GUYANA 142 (Vishaul Singh 30, Royston Crandon 20, Derwin Christian 20; Nelon Pascal 5-52, Mervin Matthew 2-17) and 35 for three (Royston Crandon 20 not out; Mervin Matthew 3-11)
