WICB announces ODI & Test squads to Bangladesh

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board announced the West Indies One Day International and Test squads for the tour to Bangladesh.

Denesh Ramdin has returned to both the ODI and Test squads while off spinner Shane Shillingford returns to the Test squad along with rookie opener Kraigg Brathwaite. Keiran Powell, the Nevisian left handed top order batsman has also been included in both squads as well.

Carlos Brathwaite, the Barbadian all rounder has received a call up to the West Indies ODI squad.

World famous clubs to benefit from Digicel Grassroots Grants

 

St John’s, Antigua – The world renowned Kingston Cricket Club (KCC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) are among eight clubs which have been selected in the second round to benefit from the WICB Digicel Grassroots Club Grants Programme.

The home club of the legendary West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and former world record holder for most wickets in Tests, Lance Gibbs – the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) – has also been selected to benefit from the Grant Programme.

WICB President salutes Ambrose; lauds Taylor & Bishoo

London, England – President of the West Indies Cricket Board Dr. Julian Hunte has sent congratulations to West Indies legend Curtly Ambrose, Stafanie Taylor and Devendra Bishoo. Ambrose was inducted into the International Cricket Council Hall of Fame while Taylor won the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year award and Bishoo took the ICC Emerging Player of the Year award. “The entire West Indian cricketing family and indeed the world cricketing family stand and salute the icon Curtly Ambrose on being inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame,” Dr. Hunte said.

St. John’s Antigua- Several Antigua & Barbuda’s cricketers are showing some interest in forming a national players’ association.

American University to inaugurate cricket field in Antigua

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – American University of Antigua (AUA) will inaugurate its cricket field on campus grounds on Saturday, September 17 at 1 pm, with a Twenty20 cricket match against a Combined Schools team. The brain-child behind the cricket field, Vice President of Administrative Services and Community of the University Basil Stuart, said the call by Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer during his address to open the facility that he expects to see a cricket field on the campus drove home the point.
