Lambert expecting tough Windwards match

JCA Press Release.

Kingston, Jamaica- Jamaica’s regional four day captain Tamar Lambert is anticipating a humdinger of a match when his championship leading side take on the third placed Windwards in fourth round action at Sabina Park starting on Friday.

The veteran skipper believes that the team that holds their nerve at critical junctures will ultimately come away with the points, owing to the fact that Sabina Park over the last couple of years has been a result oriented pitch.

“I expect it to be a good game because it seems they are playing good cricket. My team is in good spirit and in good health and we are looking forward to this game,” said Lambert.

Both teams will be banking on their trump card spinners to do the trick come game time, with Jamaica welcoming back West Indies spinner Nikita Miller and the Windwards recalling another West Indies spinner Shane Shillingford.

Lambert is aware that the returning off spinner is hungry for action and could pose some problems for the Jamaican batting line-up.

“I think we have what it takes to handle him Shillingford . We know he is a quality bowler and he has done it regionally and internationally, but we have played against Shane before”.

In the mean time medium fast bowler Brian Buchanan has been included in Jamaica’s 14 man squad that will take on the Windwards. The Police representative will be looking to force his way into the final eleven having played two matches for Jamaica.
