Lambert blasts 74 in Jamaica warm-up

BALLARD'S VALLEY, St. Elizabeth - Captain Tamar Lambert smashed 74 to lead Jamaica to a 58 run victory over the Jamaica Premier League All Stars in a warm-up fixture here on Sunday.

Lambert drove, swept and late-cut, accounting for 11 fours and two sixes in an attacking knock off 46 balls as Jamaica scored 188 for four wickets in 20 overs.

Also, all-rounder Andre Russell blasted an unbeaten 45 in a destructive 15-ball innings which began in the 17th over.

The West Indies player hammered a total of four sixes and as many fours including two boundaries and a straight six facing his first over bowled by seamer Fabian Forbes.

In reply, the All Stars team was hardly ever in the hunt, despite a battling 58-ball 61 from left-hander Damian Bryce and was restricted to 130 for three.

The match was part of Jamaica’s preparation for the Caribbean T20 tournament next January in Trinidad and Tobago and St.Lucia.

The Jamaican cricketers were due to continue training at Sabina Park on Tuesday.
