KIDDY CRICKET MANUAL SPREADING ACROSS THE REGION

KIDDY CRICKET MANUAL SPREADING ACROSS THE REGION

Basseterre, ST KITTS - Cricket West Indies (CWI) and Scotiabank continue its commitment to expand and promote the regional Kiddy Cricket programme on the playing field and in classrooms.

This is being done in association with the government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the St. Kitts & Nevis Cricket Associations to launch the Chirpy’s Classroom Adventure teacher’s manual in primary schools across the twin island state.

The regional launch of the manual took place earlier this year in Trinidad & Tobago and like other partnering countries on this initiative, CWI has been working with the Ministry of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis to put systems in place to rollout this fun filled and important academic resource in primary school classrooms.

The manual will have its official launch, this Thursday (October 11) and will be followed by a training workshop with teachers from participating primary schools.

The Chirpy’s Classroom Adventure manual has been endorsed by the Caribbean Education Council (CXC), with contributing content partners UNICEF, the Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) and Ministries of Education from thirteen (13) CARICOM member countries.

The manual features age-appropriate cricket based academic material in the following subject areas: English Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Technology, Art & Design and much more, which are socially relatable and current to Caribbean society.

The intention of the academic resource is to bridge the gap between academics and cricket, creating positive teaching and learning outcomes, which will in turn encouraging the development of well-rounded primary school students.
