JPL finalists to be decided today

Kingston, Jamaica - The finalists of the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) Twenty20 (T20) cricket competition will be decided today with the final round of preliminary matches.

The marquee clash will see reigning champions University Dynamites facing the formidable Spanish Town Titans for top spot in the 9:30 am start at Melbourne Cricket Club.

Both teams are joint leaders on 12 points, but the Titans lead on a superior net run rate.

In the afternoon encounter at Melbourne, set to begin at 1:30, Kingston Hurricanes (nine points) could fill one of the final spots when they battle the winless Ocho Rios Chargers (zero).

Today's other match will feature Mandeville Thunders (four) and another contender MoBay Sixers (nine) at 1:30 pm at the Manley Horne Park in Ballards Valley.

The top team at the end of the preliminaries will contest the winner of the second and third place play-off match in the final.

The play-off encounter is set for tomorrow at the Manley Horne Park in Ballards Valley, St Elizabeth.

The championship match is scheduled for next weekend.
