Jamaica, T&T face off in Super50 final

St George’s, Grenada – The two top rated teams in West Indies Women’s cricket – Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will clash in the final of the West Indies Cricket Board Women’s Super50 final at Tanteen in Grenada on Wednesday August 14.

The two teams headed the points tally of their respective groups with Jamaica hauling in 15 points in Group A winning all three of their matches. Trinidad and Tobago also had a clean sweep of Group B, accumulating 14 points. Guyana (7 points) came second in Group A and Barbados (10 points) took the runner up slot in Group B.

Both semi final matches were rain affected.

The Jamaica v Barbados encounter was abandoned with Barbados making 186 for 9 and Jamaica only being able to get to 6 for 1 before play was called off. Windies batswoman Kyshonna Knight made 48 for the Bajans while Deandra Dottin contributed 35. Stafanie Taylor (3 for 20) and Shanel Daley (3 for 34) were the top wicket-takers.

Trinidad and Tobago won their semi final by the Duckworth/Lewis Method over Guyana. The Guyanese, piloted by June Ogle (55), Tremayne Smartt (47) and Shemaine Campbelle (44) made 191 for 5. T&T reached 71 for 2 in 20.5 overs to be ahead on D/L when weather caused an end to the proceedings.

The Super50 will be followed by the Regional Twenty20 Tournament which will commence on Friday August 16 and the grand T20 final will be on Thursday August 22 at the Grenada National Stadium.

The other four teams in the tournament are Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
