Jamaica take Regional U-19 title
 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - The third day of the fifth and final round of matches in the Regional Under-19, 3-Day tournament was completed today across three venues in St Kitts.

Here are the details:

AT EGSC MOLINEAUX - Jamaica v Barbados

Jamaica defeated Barbados by seven wickets to lift the Regional Under-19 title at the EGSC Molineaux. Barbados were in deep trouble overnight on 65/6, trailing Jamaica's first innings score of 188 all out by 89 runs. 

Carlos Maynard made 30 from 107 balls. But he was the lone battler on Day 3 as the Barbadians were all out 131. Shamar Springer and Neil Persaud got starts at the end scoring 15 and 10 respectively but couldn't carry on. 

It meant Jamaica needed 43 runs to win the match and the championship. Though wickets fell around him, Nicholas Walters hit an unbeaten 33 from 43 balls to lead the Jamaicans to 43/3 from 13.2 overs. Hos knock entailed three fours and two sixes. 

Jofra Archer and Johnathan Drakes took a wicket each to inflict a minor scare on Jamaica. But the Jamaican boys stood firm and delivered their country the title.

AT WARNER PARK - Windward Islands v T&T

Trinidad & Tobago were edged out by the Windward Islands on Day 3 of the final round but still managed to secure second place. Set a victory target of 245 runs, T&T started the third and final day in some trouble at 93/4. 

Still needing a further 152 runs for victory, Vikash Mohan went from two overnight to 45. His knock was a patient one, lasting 162 deliveries. Brian Christmas supported him well, striking 24 from 62 balls in a knock that included three fours. 

But as T&T wilted by losing wickets, numbers and nine and ten put up a resistance to give the 'Trinis' hope. Al Small hit 23 runs from 39 balls before he was unluckily run out. Spinner, Jesse Bootan, chipped in with 21 from 35 balls. 

But as T&T got closer to their target, star of the second innings for the Windwards, Larry Edward returned to deliver the match to his team, bowling Bootan. He would finish with 5-86, while Preston Mc Sween and Taryck Gabriel had two each. The Windwards finished fourth on the table on 27 points.

AT CONAREE - Leeward Islands v Guyana

Guyana converted their dominance in their final round match against the Leeward Islands into a win on the third and final day. The win lifted them to third place on the table on 30.7 points. 

The Leewards started the final day on 67/3, responding to Guyana's mammoth first innings total of 344/8 declared in their second innings. Trying to avoid an innings defeat, Ashawn Hodge (49), Saeed Williams (40), Avier Christian (38) and Tristan Hanley (36) all put in healthy knocks to ensure that the Guyanese batted a second time. 

The Leewards had trailed by 216 runs in their second innings. They amassed 217 all out on Day 3, setting Guyana just two runs to win in their second innings. Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai was the pick of the Guyanese bowlers in the second innings, taking 5-73. 

Steven Sankar had 3-28. It took just two deliveries for Brian Sattur to win the game for Guyana, launching Shavon Moore's second ball for six. Guyana won by ten wickets.
