Jamaica fight back, Barbados in front

Basseterre, St Kitts - The second day of the first round of matches in the Regional Under 19 tournament was completed today across three venues in St Kitts.

Trinidad and Tobago lost first innings points to Jamaica on the second day of their three-day  West Indies Cricket Board Regional Under-19 match at the Mollineaux ground in St Kitts/Nevis yesterday.

T&T trail the Jamaicans by 69 runs after the Jamaicans limited T&T to 169 in response to a first innings of 220 by the boys from the Reggae Isle on the first day.

Camillo Carimbocas topscored for this country with a knock of 42 while Andy Gobin tallied 26 and the two openers Jeremy Solozano and Brian Christmas scored 21 each. Solozano and Christmas had resumed with T&T on 35 without loss.

AT CONAREE - Windward Islands v Leeward Islands

Preston Mc Sween and Taryck Gabriel fought back with the ball for the Windward Islands on Day 2 to help their side to first innings points against the Leewards. Having dismissed their opponents for 212 in the first innings, the Leewards started Day 2 on 34/1.

That score quickly turned to 67/3. In another poor batting display in this match, Jeremiah Louis stood our with an unbeaten knock of 42. Opener, Ross Powell, who was not out overnight on 16, went on to make 33.

But the Leewards batsmen did not stand up to challenge of getting to first innings points and folded for 185. Mc Sween took 3-39 while Gabriel had 3-21. But even with a lead of 27, the Windwards could not drive home their advantage, and this match still remains quite open after the Windwards closed Day 2 on 38/5.

Shavon Moore and Tristan Hanley took two wickets each to leave the Windwards reeling. With an overall lead of 65 runs, the it's game on, on the third and final day.

AT WARNER PARK - Barbados v Guyana

Aaron Jones came big for Barbados on Day 2 to usher his team to first innings points against Guyana. With the Bajans resuming on 53/3, it would have taken something special for them to overhaul Guyana's first innings total of 234, and Jones provided.

The middle-order batsman stroked a patient 143 runs from 273 balls, occupying the crease for 249 minutes. His knock included 23 fours. There were also solid knocks from captain, Jameel Stuart (31), wicket-keeper, carlos Maynard (32) and Jofra Archer (37), taking the Bajans to 301 all out. It meant Guyana trailed on first innings by 67 runs.

Vishoal Nayaran picked up a five-for for Guyana. The Bajans then proceeded to strengthen their hold on the game, leaving Guyana in deep trouble heading into Day 3 on 33/4. Archer took two wickets while Jerome Jones and Shamar Springer had one each. Guyana still trail the Bajans' first innings score by 34 runs.

Kamesh Yadram is not out on 2, and with him is Steven Sankar, also on 2.
