WICB announces ODI & Test squads to Bangladesh

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board announced the West Indies One Day International and Test squads for the tour to Bangladesh.

Denesh Ramdin has returned to both the ODI and Test squads while off spinner Shane Shillingford returns to the Test squad along with rookie opener Kraigg Brathwaite. Keiran Powell, the Nevisian left handed top order batsman has also been included in both squads as well.

Carlos Brathwaite, the Barbadian all rounder has received a call up to the West Indies ODI squad.

Bonner feels Oval atmosphere

London, England – Nkrumah Bonner set foot on the historic Kia Oval cricket ground for the first time on Wednesday and immediately felt a difference. The 22-year-old dreamed all his life of one day having the opportunity to play at one of the game’s most historic venues and even though it was just a training session, he could feel the occasion.

Gibson & Aguilleira praise Bishoo & Taylor

St John, Antigua– West Indies players Devendra Bishoo and Stafanie Taylor have come in for congratulations after taking home trophies at the International Cricket Council’s annual awards ceremony which was held in London on Monday night.

Bishoo, the 25-year-old leg-spinner from Guyana copped the Emerging Player of the Year award, while Taylor, the 20-year-old batting allrounder from Jamaica, won the Women’s Cricketer of the Year.

World famous clubs to benefit from Digicel Grassroots Grants

 

St John’s, Antigua – The world renowned Kingston Cricket Club (KCC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) are among eight clubs which have been selected in the second round to benefit from the WICB Digicel Grassroots Club Grants Programme.

The home club of the legendary West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and former world record holder for most wickets in Tests, Lance Gibbs – the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) – has also been selected to benefit from the Grant Programme.

Taylor achieves goal of winning Women's Cricketer of the Year

Kingston, Jamaica – West Indies all-rounder Stafanie Taylor said that she set herself the goal of winning the International Cricket Council’s Women’s Cricketer of the Year Award. “I set myself the goal of winning the Women’s Cricketer of the Year award and I’m very happy I won it. I was not totally surprised, and it feels really good to be recognised in this way. I worked hard and I played well and the most important thing is that I tried to contribute to the team all the time,” she said.
