Stronger, fitter Fidel ready for comeback

Kingston, Jamaica – Fidel Edwards is eyeing a successful comeback to the international stage. The fiery fast bowler, who was sidelined for a long period with a back injury, has been named in the West Indies squad to face India in the First Digicel Test match. First ball at Sabina Park on Monday is 10 am (11 am Eastern Caribbean Time). The 29-year-old Edwards joined Windies team-mates in a full three-hour training session on Saturday at Sabina Park. He had an extended bowl in the nets and declared himself “ready” if selected in the starting line-up.

WICB statement on meeting Chris Gayle

Kingston, Jamaica – Following is a statement from the West Indies Cricket Board on the meeting with Chris Gayle. On Tuesday June 14th Chief Executive Officer of the WICB, Dr. Ernest Hilaire; Director of Cricket, Anthony Howard; Head Coach Ottis Gibson and Team Manager Richie Richardson met with Chris Gayle in Kingston. Gayle was accompanied by West Indies Players Association President and CEO Mr. Dinanath Ramnarine and WIPA Vice President Wavell Hinds at the meeting.

When Esther Pair was born, she was immediately diagnosed with Down Syndrome and her parents were told that she would never amount to anything. Umpire Wilson to stand in first ODI

Kingston, Jamaica – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that Umpire Norman Malcolm has been shifted to the 3rdUmpire role for the 5thDigicel Pearls One Day International at Sabina Park on Thursday.

Trinidadian umpire, Joel Wilson will stand in his maiden One Day International alongside Ian Gould.

Umpire Malcolm was originally appointed to stand in the match but has a physical injury which does not allow him to perform the on field duties.
