Highlights of WICB Draft Strategic Plan

On June 17th, 2011 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston Jamaica, the Board of Directors of the West Indies Cricket Board approved the Draft Strategic Plan (DSP). Following are some highlights of the DSP. The WICB’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Direction were restructured: Mission To manage, develop and promote cricket to the benefit and enjoyment of the West Indian people. Vision • To establish the WICB as an efficient and effective governing body • To provide successful and entertaining West Indies teams whilst demonstrating adherence to sporting ideals

Stronger, fitter Fidel ready for comeback

Kingston, Jamaica – Fidel Edwards is eyeing a successful comeback to the international stage. The fiery fast bowler, who was sidelined for a long period with a back injury, has been named in the West Indies squad to face India in the First Digicel Test match. First ball at Sabina Park on Monday is 10 am (11 am Eastern Caribbean Time). The 29-year-old Edwards joined Windies team-mates in a full three-hour training session on Saturday at Sabina Park. He had an extended bowl in the nets and declared himself “ready” if selected in the starting line-up.

WICB statement on meeting Chris Gayle

Kingston, Jamaica – Following is a statement from the West Indies Cricket Board on the meeting with Chris Gayle. On Tuesday June 14th Chief Executive Officer of the WICB, Dr. Ernest Hilaire; Director of Cricket, Anthony Howard; Head Coach Ottis Gibson and Team Manager Richie Richardson met with Chris Gayle in Kingston. Gayle was accompanied by West Indies Players Association President and CEO Mr. Dinanath Ramnarine and WIPA Vice President Wavell Hinds at the meeting.
