Samuels stars as Windies win big

Fatullah, Bangladesh – Marlon Samuels cracked an unbeaten century off 56 balls to power the West Indies to 195-3 in their Twenty20 match against Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI at the Fatullah Stadium on Sunday.

After winning the toss, the Windies got off to a shaky start losing Adrian Barath (4) in just the second over. Fellow opener Lendl Simmons returned to the dressing room for 12. By that time, the tourists were 51-2 in the sixth over. But a 102-run third-wicket stand between Samuels and Andre Russell revived the side.

Two new caps in Jamaica's Super50 squad

 

Kingston, Jamaica, CMC – Uncapped players Jermaine Blackwood and Kenar Lewis have been selected in the Jamaica squad for this month’s West Indies Cricket Board’s Regional Super50 Championship in Guyana. Blackwood, a 19-year-old batsman, who bowls off-spin, and Lewis, a 20-year-old opener, are two former Jamaica Under-19 players.

Samuels comes good as Windies blank UAE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Marlon Samuels played some breathtaking shots in a classy half-century and then got the ball to spin and bounce to grab three quick wickets as the West Indies outplayed United Arab Emirates for their first win of the Carib-Asian Series.

Walsh enjoying new role

Visakhapatnam, India – West Indies legend Courtney Walsh is enjoying his newest role in West Indies cricket. The former Jamaica and West Indies captain is the Team Manager of the West Indies Under-19 team, presently in India for a four-nation 50 Over tournament. Walsh outlined that he is on tour to deal with the organisation and administration of the team but also on hand to share some of his vast knowledge of the game and experience to the young players.

Nash opts out of Jamaica Super50 squad

Kingston, Jamaica - West Indies vice-captain Brendan Nash has withdrawn from Jamaica's squad for next month's West Indies Cricket Board Super50 Tournament, which will be held in Guyana.
