HPC bat in 2nd Super50 semi

 

PROVIDENCE, Guyana, CMC – Sagicor High Performance Centre won the toss and chose to bat in the second semi-final of the Regional Super50 tournament against Jamaica on Thursday at the Guyana National Stadium here.

Miami, FL - ESPN Caribbean will telecast LIVE the two semifinal and final matches of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Super 50 2011 on October 26, 27 and 29 from Guyana National Stadium in Providence. Each match will begin at 1:30 p.m. local time.

The semi finalist in the Regional Super50 Tournament are host Guyana, powerhouse Jamaica, Caribbean Twenty20 champions Trinidad and Tobago and the Barbadian-based Sagicor High Performance Centre Team.

Baugh scores 1st 5-fer

Chittagong, Bangladesh — West Indies wicket-keeper Carlton Baugh had his best day behind the stumps on Monday and is looking to have his best day in front the stumps when the first Test resumes on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old completed five dismissals for the first time in his Test career during the Bangladesh first innings of 350-9 declared at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdury Stadium. He held four catches and completed a stumping as play in the rain-affected first Test resumed after two days were lost to the inclement weather.

WICB decision on Chris Gayle

St John’s, Antigua – The WICB Board of Directors at a meeting in St Lucia took the following decision with regard to Chris Gayle:

Stafanie Taylor wins The Cricketer Award

London, England –West Indies allrounder Stafanie Taylor has been named as the international Player of the Year by The Cricketer magazine.

The 20-year-old from Jamaica took the coveted award from other strong contenders including Lydia Greenway and Charlotte Edwards from England; Shelley Nitschke, the Australian allrounder who recently retired from international cricket; and Cri-zelda Brits, of South Africa.

The Cricketer sought the views of national coaches and leading observers of the game in deciding the award.
