Jamaicans win Under-17 title in style

SCARBOROUGH, Tobago, CMC – Jamaica played unbeaten to win the inaugural WICB Regional Under-17 Championship, after whipping Windward Islands by six wickets in their final round match on Saturday.

The victory put them on 29.5 points, with Trinidad and Tobago finishing second on 23.5 points and the Windwards and Barbados third on 18. Guyana finished with 15.5 while Leeward Islands were last on 4.5 points.

SCARBOROUGH, Tobago, CMC – Tagenarine Chanderpaul lashed his second consecutive half-century as Guyana racked up their second win of the West Indies Cricket Board's Regional Under-17 Championship with a convincing 163-run demolition of Leeward Islands on Wednesday.

Playing in the third round, Tagenarine, the son of Test star Shivnarine Chanderpaul, hammered the joint top score of 79 as Guyana piled up 250 for seven off their 50 overs at Bon Accord.

Butts: Gayle will bring quality

ST JOHN’S, Antigua — Chairman of selectors Clyde Butts has welcomed Chris Gayle’s return to the West Indies team for the one-day tour of England and says the big-hitting left-hander will bring a “quality dimension” to the Caribbean side.

Seven more clubs for Digicel Grassroots

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board Digicel Grassroots Club Grant Programme continues with the latest disbursement of a total of US$35,000.

Seven clubs have been selected for US$5000 grants each in the third period of the Grassroots Grant Programme which is open to all clubs in the West Indies.
