PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Triumph Sports Club defeated Tobago’s Club Crusoe by 28 runs on Saturday at Triumph’s ground in Garden Village, Arouca, in the Courts Interclub T20 competition to book a place in the semifinal.
They will play Glenora at the National Cricket Centre in Couva on Saturday. Tobago won the toss and elected to field first.
Triumph lost Johnathan Narine in the first over caught off the bowling of Rendell Bobb without troubling the score, Ravindra Singh then joined his skipper Mark Sankar and took the score to 31 before Sankar was out caught off the bowling of Bobb.
Christian Noray joined Singh and the pair put on 43 runs before Singh was caught off the bowling of Kwani Thomas for a well played 45. Alex Fredricks made a quick 20 but when Noray was dismissed for 27, no one else made anything substantial and Triumph made 145 for 9 in their 20 overs.
Best bowler for Tobago was Arron Keith who took 3 for17 in three overs while Bobb took 2-23 in his 4 overs.
Tobago started well with the opening pair of brothers Jason and Jared Persaud taking the score to 67 without loss in 8 overs. In the ninth over, Alex Fredricks dismissed Jared Persaud for 14. Carlston Nurse was out LBW to his second ball for a duck and Rondell Hosford was bowled with his first delivery, leaving Fredricks with three wickets for three runs.
Persaud was brilliantly caught and bowled by Damian Peters for 46 wickets fell regularly as Club Crusoe were bowled out for 117 in 18.4 overs.
Fredricks ended with 4 for 20 while Peters took 3 for 21 in their four overs.
Triumph Sports Club will play in the semi final on Saturday.
