World Cup tweaked in favour of top teams


NEW DELHI, India, CMC – Cricket’s World governing body tweaked the format for this year’s World Cup to give India and Pakistan, as well as other leading teams a chance to progress in the competition.

World Cup stars reveal favourite books

Chennai, India - Leading cricket stars have revealed their favourite books on the day that the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Room to Read announced a partnership to promote literacy and access to books at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
A player from each of the 14 competing teams at the tournament has contributed to the ultimate World Cup reading list as part of a campaign to promote the importance of reading and to raise awareness of the work that Room to Read does in offering educational opportunities to young people.

Sri Lanka tour will be good World Cup preparation - Gibson

Bridgetown, Barbados – The West Indies team’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka is being seen as “good preparation” for next month International Cricket Council’s World Cup to be played in Asia. Speaking before the team departed from the Caribbean, Head Coach Ottis Gibson said the three matches in Sri Lanka will give the team a chance to get acclimatized to the conditions, where the 10th Cricket World Cup will also be played
