Bishoo, Martin, Carter in WI 30 for CWC

St John’s Antigua– Leg spinning duo Devendra Bishoo and Anthony Martin along with the Barbadian pair of young fast bowler Jason Holder and feisty batsman Jonathan Carter have been named in the West Indies preliminary 30 man squad for ICC Cricket World Cup.

Doctrove only West Indian official in World Cup

Roseau, Dominica – Emirates Elite Panel umpire Billy Doctrove will be the only West Indian officiating in the ICC Cricket World Cup in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh next year.

Doctrove, a Dominican, is one of 18 umpires appointed for the World Cup along with five Match Referees.

The reserve umpire for the tournament has been named as Enamul Hoque-Moni, also from the international panel. He will officiate during the warm-up phase of the tournament and be available, if required, during the event proper.

Gibson looks ahead to the return to Sri Lanka & World Cup

 

Colombo, Sri Lanka– West Indies Head Coach Ottis Gibson has started to put the systems in place for the team’s participation in next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup. Following the rescheduling of the One Day Series against Sri Lanka, Gibson said this presents an opportunity to look towards the “grand event” which will commence in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India in February.

Tendulkar named Ambassador for the Cricket World Cup 2011

Mumbai, India – The International Cricket Council announced the appointment of India batting legend Sachin Tendulkar the official event ambassador for cricket’s flagship event, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Throughout his long and successful career to date Tendulkar has inspired hundreds of millions of cricket lovers around the world with his personality, skill, temperament and love for the game.

Coach Campbell happy with progress as Windies champs return home

Bridgetown, Barbados – Coach of the West Indies Women's team Sherwin Campbell says he is extremely pleased with the side's showing in South Africa and urged his players to aim for the "next level". Campbell was speaking on Tuesday as the team return home after they  won the T20 Trophy and placed second in the 50 Over League at the ICC Challenge Tournament in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
