Being involved with technology, aviation, for 40 years, I like and appreciate the operation of Decision Review System (DRS), and its technological outputs—“Hot-spot”, “Sniko” etc—as being used in present-day cricket, but only if it is used for what the International Cricket Council (ICC) had originally suggested that it would be used for.

Lorgat to leave ICC next year

Dubai, United Arab Emirates -- ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat has informed the ICC Nominations Committee, chaired by ICC President Sharad Pawar, that he will not seek to renew his term of office which expires on June 30, 2012.

Lorgat became the ICC Chief Executive in June 2008 and will have led the ICC for a period of four years by the time he steps down after the 2012 ICC Annual Conference scheduled in Kuala Lumpur.

Windies Under-19s prepare for India trip

Bridgetown, Barbados – The members West Indies Under-19 squad has assembled in Barbados for a one-week camp as they prepare for a tour of India next month. The players will spend a week at the Sagicor High Performance Centre at the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies.

Gros Islet, St Lucia– Pakistan Team Manager Intikhab Alam believes that Umar Akmal, the dashing right handed middle order batsman can become a darling of the West Indian public.

“The people of the Caribbean will like the way he plays because he’s so entertaining and exciting and hits the ball exceptionally well,” said Alam of the 20 year old who has already featured in 21 International Twenty20s and 37 One Day Internationals.
