The local side played themselves into a position of strength by bowling out Bangladesh A for 219 just before tea after scoring 254 all out in their first innings on the opening day.

At the close of the second day, WI HPC were 24 without loss in their second innings with Chadwick Walton 16 and  Assad Fudadin 8, the not out batsmen.

Pacer Sheldon Cotterel and spinner Devendra Bishoo picked up three wickets each to sufficiently stifle the visitors from scoring their way out of a slump after they had crashed to 56 for three.

However a defiant half century stand for the third wicket between Nasir Hossain and Marshall Ayub revived the visitors’ ambitions, lifting them to 135 before the partnership ended.

The two batted well to put on 79 runs before Hossain, one of Bishoo’s three victims, departed for a top score of 53 which included ten fours.

Ayub added 41 until he was caught behind attempting to play Ashley Nurse and Imrul Kayes contributed 21.

Cotterel finished with three wickets for 30 runs while Bishoo leaked 57 runs for his three wickets.

Nurse, Jonathan Carter and Miguel Cummings also picked up a wicket each.
