Port of Spain, Trinidad - A top Central Zone official has distanced himself from statements made by newly elected Central Zone chairman, Mozack Rahamut, who declared recently that the zone was supporting Dinanath Ramnarine and Daren Ganga in the upcoming national executive elections of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB).

Farouk Hosein, who has been selected one of the zone’s three representatives at the elections on October 26, said the zone’s executive is yet to decide whom they are backing.

Former TT players Ramnarine and Ganga are posing a challenge for the incumbent Azim Bassarath administration who are seeking their third term of office and are confident of being returned to office. “We have not as yet met to decide who to support in the national executive elections. So to state that we are for one group or the other is a clear fabrication,” said Hosein.

He said he will be accompanied by two other Central Zone officials — Keith Joseph and former borough corporation councillor Narsingh Ramberan — at the national executive elections to cast their votes.

Hosein said the Central Zone executive will meet most likely next week to decide whose slate to back on October 26.

“I want to emphasise that no decision has been reached as yet. Any information to the contrary is not true,” said Hosein.
