Guyana Independence T20 Million Dollar Cup picks up momentum ... Ansa McAl joins hand

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA - As the date approaches for the much anticipated Guyana Independence Twenty20 tourney in Berbice, Berbicians have already begun reserving the day to be at the Albion Sports Complex come May 26, 2013 to witness the most exciting and biggest T20 tournament to ever hit the County.

The tournament which is scheduled as part of celebrations to mark Guyana’s 47th Anniversary will see four exciting teams - Universal DVD Berbice Titans, Karibee Rice Tigers, East Coast Demerara Raiders and Georgetown Jaguars - battle for supremacy and over $1M in cash and prizes.

Yesterday, the Ansa McAl Trading Berbice Branch Manager, Mark Bhikhai, presented the company’s hefty sponsorship package to coordinator of the tournament Anil Beharry.

Speaking briefly, the Branch Manager expressed Ansa McAl’s delight, under the ‘Carib Brand’, to be associated with the tournament and sees this game as an event that will help to promote the sport of cricket in Berbice. Ansa McAl has been actively involved in community development through sports and the coordinator of the tournament Mr Anil Beharry thanked the sponsor and pledged that the tournament will be managed with proper accountability and transparency.

Patrons will have an opportunity to win fabulous gate prizes including cell phones, mp3 players, hampers among other tokens from various companies which will be distributed free of cost.

The games will commence at 10:30hrs with two matches, followed by a cultural ceremony. At night, the atmosphere will be transformed with the lighting up of big screen projectors, cheer leaders and the final played under massive floodlights.

Fireworks and musical entertainment to be provided along with live local artiste rocking the night away with the rhythms of Crown Vibes International Sound Systems.

Admission to the venue is $500 for adults. Gates open from 09:00hrs. Tickets will be sold only at selected venues to be named and patrons are urged to grab them early. Other sponsors on board include Universal DVD, Karibee Rice, Sentinel Security, Metro Office and Computer Supplies.
