Paul Slowe appointed WICB Security Manager

St John’s, Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board announces the appointment of retired Assistant Commissioner of Police of Guyana, Paul Slowe to the post of Security Manager.

Slowe’s immediate responsibilities will include preparing a comprehensive overarching WICB Security Policy in addition to a Security Plan for the Digicel Series 2011.

Rock bottom prices for Digicel Series tickets

St John’s Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board has considerably slashed ticket prices for the Digicel Series across the board. The WICB, in an effort to ensure that every fan across the region can attend the games without having to put a burden on their pockets, has ensured that the costs of tickets are extremely affordable.

Tickets for the 2011 Series opener, the Digicel Twenty20 at the Beausejour Cricket Grounds in St Lucia will cost a mere EC$50 (US$18.50) for all stands.

Ryan Hinds fined 65% of match fee

St John’s, Antigua– Barbados captain Ryan Hinds has been fined 65% of his match fee following the Barbados v Guyana WICB Regional 4 Day match at the Guyana National Stadium.

Hinds was reported by umpires Norman Malcolm, Nigel Duguid and Shannon Crawford for the Level 1 (1.2) charge of showing dissent by word or action at an umpire’s decision.

The charge was upgraded to Level 2 since it was Hind’s second Level 1 offence in 12 months. The first offence was during the WICB Regional 50 Over Tournament in October last.

Barbados battle for a draw

PROVIDENCE, Guyana, CMC – Hamstrung by the loss of Devendra Bishoo, and a stoppage for rain, Guyana failed in their bid for a long-awaited victory over Barbados on home soil, and had to settle for a draw in the WICB Regional first-class championship on Monday.

ICC approves Bishoo

St John’s, Antigua– The West Indies Cricket Board has received confirmation from the International Cricket Council that the Technical Committee has approved the WICB application for Devendra Bishoo to replace the injured Dwayne Bravo in the West Indies World Cup squad.

Bishoo will join the West Indies squad in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is expected to arrive on Wednesday.

The Windies next face Bangladesh on Friday 4th March.
