WICB umpires & match referees workshops conclude to rave reviews

Kingston, Jamaica - The WICB workshops for umpires, match referees and video analysts conclude today in Jamaica and several participants have expressed pleasure and satisfaction while commenting that it was a refreshing and much needed engagement.

Barbadian umpire Gregory Brathwaite who makes his debut as a regional umpire today in the WICB Regional 50 Over opening game between Jamaica and Windward Islands said that the workshop for umpires was most informative.

New girl Munroe making the most of every day

Bridgetown, Barbados: Subrina Munroe in the new kid on the block in the West Indies Women's team preparing to tour South Africa next month. After eight years of trying, the strongly-built pacer from New Amsterdam in Guyana, has finally earned a place on the West Indies team. On Saturday she and her team-mates will depart from Barbados for the ICC's Women's Challenge tournament in Potchefstroom.

Dr Hunte thanks Guyana for participation in CL T20

St John's, Antigua - President of the West Indies Cricket Board, Dr. Julian Hunte, on Wednesday, thanked the Guyana team for their participation in the Airtel Champions League in South Africa as the sole West Indies representative.

“Trinidad and Tobago set exceptionally high standards in the previous edition of the Airtel Champions League and while Guyana’s young team did not manage to match those standards it was clear that they grew in confidence after a nervous start on a grand stage,” Dr. Hunte noted.

Guyana go under by 15 runs

Guyana lost by 15 runs to South Australia in their Group B Airtel Champions League T20 match at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on Tuesday. Replying to 191-6, Guyana ended on 176-7 off their 20 overs. Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan topscored with 70 off 46 balls as he tried to take the fight to the Aussies. Richard Ramdeen made 35 in his first match, while Steven Jacobs chipped in with 32. It was Guyana’s fourth defeat in the tournament.
