Points Standings after Round 2

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Following are the points standings after the second round of the Regional 4-Day Tournament ended on Monday.

Charles takes Windwards to victory

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – A Johnson Charles half-century and critical knocks by Devon Smith and Andre Fletcher guided Windward Islands to a strong five-wicket win over Guyana on the fourth and final day of the second round Regional Four-Day Championship match here Monday.

Chasing 181 for victory at Windsor Park, the Windwards reached their target an hour after lunch, to secure their first win of the tournament after suffering an 81-run defeat to defending champions Jamaica in the first round.

Windwards 169 away from big win

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Half-centuries from Narsingh Deonarine, Christopher Barnwell and Assad Fudadin for Guyana in the Regional 4-Day Tournament on Sunday left Windward Islands to chase 181 for victory on the final day.

Deonarine led the way with 84, Barnwell supported with 75 and Fudadin made 51, as Guyana, trailing by 114 on first innings, were dismissed for 294 in their second innings about 25 minutes before the rescheduled close on the third day of their second round match at Windsor Park.

Allround Pascal gives Windwards lead

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Guyana captain and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul produced a lethal burst but it failed to prevent Windward Islands from taking first innings points on the second day of their second round clash in the Regional 4Day Championship on Saturday.

On a day when 17 wickets tumbled at Windsor Park, the Windwards fought their way to 186 for eight, in reply to Guyana’s disappointing 138 all out.

Guyana reach 24-1 on rainy opening day

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Only eight overs were possible as rain ravaged the opening day of the second round Regional Four-Day Championship match between Guyana and Windward Islands at Windsor Park on Friday.

When play finally began at 4.30 pm, Guyana, surprisingly opting to bat first after winning the toss, lost Sewnarine Chattergoon to the second ball of the innings, bowled by pacer Nelon Pascal without scoring.
