'Regional Super50' - WICB rebrands Limited Overs tourney

St John’s, Antigua – Regional Super50 – that is what the West Indies Cricket Board today announced that its rebranded Limited Overs tournament will now be known as. In addition to the new name the Regional Super50 will trial several new ‘super features’ which are geared towards making the games more exciting for the fans and more engaging for players. Principally among the innovations will be a new rule which will allow two bowlers on each side to bowl a maximum of 12 overs each during a 50 over game. The remaining bowlers can bowl a maximum of 10 overs each.

ICC Pitch Consultant to conduct Caribbean Curators Workshop

St John’s, Antigua – The West Indies Cricket Board today announced that International Cricket Council Pitch Consultant Andy Atkinson will conduct a workshop for Caribbean curators at the end of the month.
 
Each Territorial Board has been asked by the WICB to nominate the curators who will hold responsibilities for the preparation of the Test wickets in their respective territories. The nominees’ participation in the workshop, which will be held in Guyana, will be fully funded by the WICB.

Gibson & Aguilleira praise Bishoo & Taylor

St John, Antigua– West Indies players Devendra Bishoo and Stafanie Taylor have come in for congratulations after taking home trophies at the International Cricket Council’s annual awards ceremony which was held in London on Monday night.

Bishoo, the 25-year-old leg-spinner from Guyana copped the Emerging Player of the Year award, while Taylor, the 20-year-old batting allrounder from Jamaica, won the Women’s Cricketer of the Year.

World famous clubs to benefit from Digicel Grassroots Grants

 

St John’s, Antigua – The world renowned Kingston Cricket Club (KCC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) are among eight clubs which have been selected in the second round to benefit from the WICB Digicel Grassroots Club Grants Programme.

The home club of the legendary West Indies captain Clive Lloyd and former world record holder for most wickets in Tests, Lance Gibbs – the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) – has also been selected to benefit from the Grant Programme.

Bishoo dedicates Emerging Player Award to dad

Bridgetown, Barbados – West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo has dedicated his Emerging Player Award at the annual International Cricket Council’s Award ceremony on Monday to his father. He said the award came as a bit of a surprise and dedicated it to his father Mohanlall, who died when he was eight years old.
