Grenada take first innings points from St.Lucia
ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada - Grenada took first innings points from St Lucia in their Windward Islands two-day Cricket match which ended in a draw at the Lasagesse Playing Field on Wednesday.
Resuming on their overnight 135 for 5, St Lucia were dismissed for 178 with the top batsmen being Taryck Gabriel who scored 44, Keddy Lesporis 42 and Jason Smith 38.
The wickets were shared evenly between pacer Nelon Pascal, who bagged 5 for 54 and left-arm spinner Denise George 5 for 74.
Grenada in reply scored 189 to gain an 11-run lead.
Ronald Etienne led the way with 78 and Denis Smith scored 28 while the outstanding bowlers for St.Lucia were Kevin Augustine who grabbed 3 for 19 and Dalton Pollius 3 for 48.
At stumps, St Lucia were 56 for three with Gabriel unbeaten on 39.
Over at Beausejour playing field, Dominica were 66 without loss in their first innings, replying to 163 for 6 declared made by St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Sunis Ambrose hit the top score of 73 for St Vincent and the Grenadines, striking an impressive 73.
Tyrone Theophile and Gelani Robinson were unbeaten on 33 runs each.
Mervin Matthew picked up three for 23 while Vivian Vitre snared two for 16.
More than a day’s play was lost in the two-day encounter, with no play on the opening day and a late start Wednesday morning.
The Windward Islands Two-day competition enters its second round on Thursday with Grenada meeting Dominica at Beausejour and St Vincent and the Grenadines and St Lucia clashing at Lasagesse.
