Glenora take TTCB 40 overs crown
Trinidad & Tobago Newsday article.
PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD - Glenora Sports Club defeated North Coast by 35 runs on Sunday to clinch the 2013 North Zone TTCB 40 overs title.
Batting first, Glenora posted a respectable 176 all out in 35.5 overs with Aaron Francis top-scoring with a knock of 46 while Kwinsi Williams added 43. North Coast’s Jason Rondon (3/25) and Darius Padilla (2/28) were the main wicket-takers. In reply, North Coasts were bundled out for 141 in 35.5 overs despite a half-century from Kendall Guerra who provided the only obstacle to Glenora claiming the title. Guerra stroked 57 but could not help his team further as left-arm spinner Seve Francis and pacer Chris Sargeant wrecked their innings. Francis grabbed 3 for 35 while Sargeant had 2/27.
Glenora will now turn their attention to the Courts-sponsored Twenty20 competition starting this weekend when they take on Agents of Arima. The fixture is scheduled for the Queen’s Park Savannah on Saturday at 2pm.
