GCA\Hadi’s first division 2 -day tourney…DCC trounce TSC, GDF take first innings from GCC in drawn game

Georgetown, Guyana - Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) defeated Transport Sports Club (TSC) by an innings 141 runs while Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) played to an draw with the latter taking first innings points when action in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)\Hadi’s first division 2 day tournament continued last weekend.
At DCC, TSC were bowled out for 117 in 29.4 overs, batting first.
The visitors found themselves in early trouble but Steven Alves who top scored with 40 (3×4,3×6) and Devendra Beharry (17) added 41 for the fourth wicket to steady their innings somewhat. TSC then lost a few more quick wickets before Ewart Samuels 28 and Kevin Ross 20 put together 46 for the ninth wicket stand.
Totaram Bishun captured 4-64 and Paul Wintz 3-20.
DCC in reply declared on 351-8 in 54 overs. Openers Brian Sattaur and Andrew Lyght gave their team a bright start, adding 108 before Lyght was dismissed for 43 (7×4,1×6). Sattaur slammed five fours and a similar number of sixes before he departed for 70 (5×4,5×6).
Cohen Ismond was their leading batsman with 80 (7×4), Wintz supported with 64 (5×4,6×6), Sherfene Rutherford made 34 and Kevin George 21. Beharry snared 2-17, Narine Dhanraj 2-82 and Ross 2-85.
Facing a deficit of 234, TSC were bowled out for 93 in 28 overs, batting a second time to hand the host a comfortable victory. Samuels made 27 and Steven Alves 20 as left arm spinner Totaram Bishun bagged 6-39 from 9.5 overs to end with figures of 10 -103 while Wintz captured 2-7 off 5, there was 1 each for Devon George and Kevin George.
At Malteenoes, Guyana Defence Force took first strike and scored of 240 all out in 57.5 overs. Marcus Watkins led the soldiers batting with 54 (7×4,1×6), Dennis Legay scored 50 (6×4), Delon Heyliger 44 (5×4,1×6) and Semmiah Legay 35 not out (5×4).
Kevin Plants bagged 3-24, Jeetendra Sookdeo 2-12, Joshua Wade 2-32 and Leon Johnson 2-52. GCC hunting an outright victory declared on their first innings on 200-2. Jeetendra Sookdeo stroked an unbeaten 111 while Vishal Singh made 53.
With a lead of 40 GDF managed 219 before they were bowled out in 53 overs in their second innings. Steven Harris cracked 92 not out and Jeremiah Harris supported with 53.
Robin Bacchus snared 3 wickets, while Joshua Wade and Gavin Singh had 2 each.
Needing 262 to win GCC made a courageous effort but ended on 113-5 at the close of the second and final day. Bacchus led with 41, Sookdeo 23 and Leon Johnson 21. Delon Heyliger picked up 3-43 and Harris 2-54.
