Georgetown, Guyana - The Executive and Members of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) have  extended their deepest condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the late Ivor Mendonca.

A release from the GCA stated that Mendonca, a former Guyana and West Indies wicket-keeper/batsman, will always be remembered for the excellent work he did with the young players in the Georgetown area especially at the Georgetown Cricket Club where he served as Coach and Team Manager.

The young cricketers who were fortunate to be involved with him will always remember the word discipline which was his watchword. Mendonca will surely be missed around the cricketing circles and the GCA recognizes that his death has left a void that will be very difficult to fill.

Mendonca died on Saturday last after suffering cancer of the Larynx and Prostate. He was born on July 13, 1934 in Bartica, Essequibo. The right handed batsman appeared in two Test matches against India in the 1961-62 series. He scored 78 in his first game and took four catches while effecting one stumping.
