G.C. Foster, Pines battle for PCA T20 honours

Kingston, Jamaica - G.C. Foster College and Port-more Pines will tomorrow face off in the final of the Wray and Nephew Portmore Cricket Association T20 League at the Bridgeport Sports Complex.

G.C. Foster, who defeated former champions Ken's Wildflower by an impressive eight wickets in the semi-finals, will enter the contest as favourites.

Leading the way for the Gibbs Williams-conditioned unit will be former West Indies 'A' representative, leg-spinner Gavin Wallace and former national Under-19 captain, Derval Green. He played a lead role in the victory over Ken's, scoring 83 not out in G.C. Foster's 117 for two in response to 116 made by the losers.

Odane Vassell, four for 17, Sean Headlam, two for eight, and Terrence West, two for 26, helped G.C. Foster's bowling efforts in the field.

Pines will be hoping to claim another big scalp after getting by fancied Colour's International in the quarter-finals and title-favourites Waterford in the semi-finals.

Led by Damion Bryce, 58, and off-spin all-rounder Peat Salmon, 33 not out, the Terrence Brown-captained Pines made a competitive 132 for four.

Waterford, with national opener Horace Miller in their line-up, as well as the in-form Marvin Lobban, were then limited to 63 off 16.1 overs.

André Bryce, with three for 12, led Pines' bowling.

The final, which is scheduled to get under way at 2 p.m., will be preceded by the play-off for third place between Ken's and Waterford at 10 a.m.
