BANGALORE, India - Chris Gayle’s Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a 16 run win over Delhi Daredevils in an attempt to keep alive their chances of making the play-off in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday.

The Bangalore innings got off to a decent start after Gayle made 22 off 23 balls, smashing two sixes and a four during his knock.

The West Indies opener , who is yet to get a big score under his belt in this IPL, got out off pacer Rahul Shukla as he tried to smash the ball on the legside only to get an inside edge that uprooted the stumps.

But it was Yuvraj Singh who blasted an unbeaten 68 off just 29 balls in a stunning six-hitting exhibition that powered RCB to victory at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.

Yuvraj hammered nine sixes and a four to single-handedly take his side to a formidable 186 for four after being put into bat.

Daredevils, in reply, were restricted to 170 for seven in 20 overs.

Bangalore jumped to sixth spot with eight points from 10 matches while Delhi languished at the bottom with four points from 10 matches. Delhi, who are virtually out of the tournament, face an uphill task to qualify for the play-offs.
