Barrackpore, Trinidad - The Daren Ganga Foundation held its fifth annual cricket and football camp at the Barrackpore East Secondary School on the Emancipation Day holiday (Thursday).

These special coaching camps have played a critical part of the DGF’s calendar of events and fall precisely in line with the Foundation’s purpose of providing opportunities for the young people of Trinidad and Tobago to realise their full potential.

This year’s proceedings was considered to be a pinnacle year for the DGF clinics, as the Foundation strives to reach more and more young people through its programmes. At the clinic, female coaching was presented to the over 80 girls and boys present.

Within the coming weeks, the DGF will also deliver a unique cricket clinic, led by professional coaches and players, to the young people of Tobago. This clinic will be followed by an historic event in commemoration of Nelson Mandela Day, and Daren Ganga’s own inspiring encounter with the great leader.

A celebrity T20 match will also be held on September 1 at 2pm at the Mt. Pleasant Sporting Ground in partnership with the Tobago House of Assembly and the Tobago Cricket Association. This event is free to the public.

Specially invited coaches this year will be First Citizens Clarke Road’s Shal Ramkissoon, Theodore Modeste, Amin Forgenie, Danwatee Ramadhin, Ranjeeve Moonan, Ryerson Bhagoo for cricket and Clayton Morris, Doodath Bookal, Dinesh Ramjass and Perry Martin for football.

The DGF has also partnered with YTEPP, who is offering free computer literacy classes to each of the interested students through their mobile unit at the Barrackpore Camp.
