Georgetown, Guyana - Central/East Bank Essequibo got the better of North Essequibo/Pomeroon by 48 runs when the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB)/Sterling Products Limited Under-15 50 overs tournament continued yesterday.
Central/ East Bank batted first and scored 120 all out at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground. Joshua Jones stroked 53. North/Pomeroon were bowled out for 72 in 20 overs in response. Beesham Goveia scored 37 while Govindra Gobin grabbed 4-23.
At Imam Bacchus Ground, Affiance, South Essequibo overcame Wakenaam/Leguan by five wickets. Wakenaam/Leguan took first strike and made 95 all out in 30 overs. Mahase Ramnarine scored 24 and Beesham Moses 19; Shamar Dusraj captured 4-17 and Shane Wong 3-19.
South replied with 96-5 in 26 overs. Wong returned to hit 28 and Arnold Adams assisted with 16. Moses snared 2-15. Meanwhile, South and Wakenaam/Leguan registered victories in the opening round of matches on Friday last.
South hammered Central/East Bank by 121 runs at Imam Bacchus Ground. South rattled up 184-7 after the game was reduced to 37 overs, batting first. Arnold Adams led with 44 and Orlando Jailall made 27. Ronaldo Mc Pherson and Govindra Gobin snared two wickets apiece. Central/East Bank were sent packing for 63 in 15 overs in reply. Joshua Jones was the only batsman that offered any resistance with 24; Marza Alli grabbed 4-8 while there were two wickets apiece for Shamar Dasrath and Joel Fortune.
At Anna Regina, Wakenaam/Leguan trounced North/Pomeroon by nine wickets. North/Pomeroon took first strike and were bundled out for 10 in 10 overs. Parmanand Persaud bagged 4-2 and Beesham Moses 3-4. Wakenaam/Leguan knocked off the target in four overs ending on 11-1. The competition continues today.
