East, South East look to stay perfect

Port of Spain, Trinidad - East Zone will be hoping to close off the group stage of BG T&T Under-15 InterZone tournament with a perfect record when they travel to Shaw Park for their final round Group B match against Tobago bowling off today at 10 a.m. and continuing tomorrow from 10 a.m.

Kirstan Kallicharan has been prolific so far in the competition, slamming an unbeaten 124 in the first innings and then 101 in the second to lead East to victory over North East in their first match of the competition.

The East Zone skipper followed up with 99 and 59 in his team’s 207-run win over North last week. Now they will turn their attention to Tobago as they go after their third consecutive victory in the tournament.

In the other Group B match, North tackle North East at Brooklyn Ground in Sangre Grande needing victory to confirm their place in the last four. 

North defeated Tobago in their opening match of the tournament.

In Group A, Cephas Cooper slammed an unbeaten 107 and 70 to lead his team to victory over Central last week and could play another key role as they go for their third straight win when they come up against South West at Sancho Recreation Ground in South Trinidad.

South West have no chance of making the semifinals having lost both matches so far.

Instead Central and South will be playing for the other semi-final spot up for grabs in the Group. 

The two sides meet at Presentation College, Chaguanas, needing a win to go through.

Central won their first match against South West on the back of an unbeaten 181 Crystian Thurton before losing to South East last week.

South come into the game on the back of a big 173-run win over South West last week.

The semifinals of the tournament will be played on May 20-21 while final takes place on May 27-28.
