Georgetown, Guyana - East Coast was victorious again as they eased past East Banks  by three wickets in the second round of the Diamond Fire and General Insurance Inc sponsored Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Inter-Association Under-19 50-over Competition today.

At the Enmore Community Centre ground, the overs were reduced to 41 overs per side due to seepage of water from early morning rains. East Bank took to the crease first and managed 156/9 of their allotted overs. Ryan Shun and Deonarine Seegobin were the significant scorers with 36 and 37 respectively. Bowling for East Coast, Vivian Albert did the damage capturing 5/34 off nine overs, which gave him the man-of-the-match award.

East Coast reached their target of 157 in 35.5 overs, losing seven wickets in the process. Brian Sattuar led the way with 61 while Vishwanauth Ramlakhan made 52. East Bank’s Eshan Alli accounted for 4/37 off nine overs.

At the Wales Community Centre ground, the overs were reduced to 48 overs per side due to overnight rain as well. West Demerara batted first and finished on 231/6. Avenash Dhaniram top-scored with 56 and got support from Ronaldo Renee (47), Daniel Basdeo (44), and Kevin Paul (23).

In reply, Georgetown was tumbled for 171 in 42.1 overs. Sherfane Rutherford (44), Kemal Savoury (27), and Tariq Dharamlall (23) were the primary scorers. Man-of-the-match, Malcolm Hubbard was the pick of the bowlers for West Demerara with 4/26. Also among the wickets were Kevin Paul (2/8) and Richie Looknauth (2/8).

The third and final round is scheduled for Saturday, 12th April 2014 and it will see East Coast and Georgetown clashing at the Everest Cricket Club ground, and East Bank taking on the defending champions, west Demerara, at the Wales Community Centre ground.
