Dwayne Bravo back in fray for QPCC

Trinidad Express article.

Port of Spain, Trinidad - West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is set to lend his experience to the Queen’s Park Cricket Club for their Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) Premier Division Twenty20 Group A clash against Merry Boys at Diego Martin Recreation Ground from 2 p.m. today.

The Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel skipper Bravo, who was part of the West Indies T20 side that lost to Sri Lanka in the ICC World T20 semi-final last week, is back in Trinidad and will be a welcome boost for the Parkites, who will be without some of their senior players in Jonathan Augustus, Amit Jaggernauth, Shannon Gabriel, and Akeal Hosein as well as Barbados pacer Fidel Edwards, who was also part of the side this season.

Augustus, Jaggernauth and Gabriel are all in Guyana with the Trinidad and Tobago team while Hosein is still recovering from a thigh strain.

Justin Guillen, Petrock Nicholas and Marlon Barclay are some of the other experienced Queen’s Park players in the team for today’s clash.

Merry Boys also have a decent line-up which includes Mario Belcon, Aneil Kanhai and prospective Under-19 batsman Amir Jangoo, as well as Bajan all-rounder Javon Searles and Guyana batsman Jeetendra Sookdeo.

In the other games in Group A, Bamboo Sports will host Munroe Road at Bamboo Recreation Ground while Moosai Sports host Alescon Comets at Honeymoon Park in El Dorado.

The feature match in Group B will see defending champions PowerGen Sports coming up against Jenexcon Tableland at Syne Village in Penal.

PowerGen have been unable to get the better of Tableland so far this season, losing to them in the UWI T20 tournament in January and then again in the TTCB Sunday League 50-over competition.

Most recently, the two sides met in the Premier Division two-day league over the weekend at Syne Village which ended in a draw.

William Perkins slammed a century in that encounter for Tableland and his form with the bat could be a decisive factor in today’s clash.

But PowerGen also have some in-form players, with Silas Cooper hitting a century in the league game over the weekend and Rajindra Chandrika and Varoon Samaroo both notching half centuries.

PowerGen defeated CLICO Preysal in the opening round of the T20 competition two weeks ago while Tableland overcame Esmeralda in their opening fixture.

In other games today, First Citizens Clarke Road United are in action against Esmeralda at Wilson Road in Penal while Preysal travel to Gilbert Park in California for their game against Caldrac Club,

Caldrac and Preysal are still looking for their first win of the tournament while Clarke Road, who have T&T Red Steel player Nicholas Pooran in their ranks, are going for their second win.

All matches bowl off at 2 p.m.
