Dominant Georgetown thump East Coast by 142 runs

Georgetown, Guyana - Georgetown lads continue to blow away their opponents in the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) Under-15 Inter-zone competition, this time thumping East Coast by 142 runs at the Enmore Community Centre ground in their second round match-up on Friday.

Georgetown took to the crease first and finished on 234-6 off the alloted 50 overs. Opener Joshua Persaud recorded Georgetown’s second century in the competition. He scored 106, while their first match centurion, Alphius Bookie, was also among the runs with 43.

Bowling for East Coast, Pradesh Balkishun and Ramdeo Basdeo accounted for 2-35 and 2-57 respectively.

The East Coast innings finished in the 40th over when they were bundled out for 92. Only Pradesh Balkishun and Anil Singh reached double figures with 17 and 13 respectively.

The Georgetown bowlers had a feast; Alphius Bookie took 4-21, Khenchandra Hardyal 3-19, and Stephon Wilson 2-15.

Joshua Persaud was adjudged  man of the match for his brilliant century.

The third and final round of the competition will be held today with East Coast and West Demerara clashing at the Wales Community Centre ground, and East Bank taking on Georgetown at the Everest Cricket Club ground.
