Demerara trial match starts Thursday

Georgetown, Guyana - With the aim of selecting the best possible team to represent Demerara at the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board senior inter-county four-day competition, the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) will stage a three-day trial game starting Thursday at the Everest Cricket Club ground.

According to the DCB, the match will comprise four innings, with action set to bowl off at 09:00 hours each day. “The DCB is asking the players selected for the trial to be prepared and on time at the venue,” a release from the board stated.

The two teams will be captained by West Indies players, middle-order batsman Leon Johnson and all-rounder Christopher Barnwell.

Also set to feature during the trial match are discarded West Indies batsmen Ramnaresh Sarwan and Ryan Ramdass.

Johnson squad reads: Leon Johnson (captain), Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Shemroy Barrington, Balwinda Shivpersaud, Zaheer Mohamed, Vishal Singh, Amir Khan, Joseph Perry, Randy Knights, Shaquille Williams, Andre Stoll, Paul Wintz, Totaram Bishun, Raj Nanan, Trevon Griffith and Ryan Ramdass.

Barnwell squad reads: Christopher Barnwell (captain), Rajendra Chandrika, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Yatesh Dhanpaul, Steven Jacobs, Arvin Seepersaud, Kemol Savoury, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Pattadin, Carl Rambarose, Trevor Benn, Kelon Carmichael, Anthony Atwell, Robin Bacchus and Jeetendra Sookdeo.
