DCB T20 set for October 25

Guyana Chronicle article.

Georgetown, Guyana - The Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) T20 competition is scheduled to bowl off on October 25 with eight teams from across Demerara competing for supremacy.

This competition is specifically geared towards bringing a close to the rancor and disunity that has permeated the smooth and efficient administration of the game in the county of Demerara and it is anticipated that several administrators and veteran cricketers from the various areas would capitalise on this glorious opportunity to participate in this competition.

We trust that all administrators would come on board with this bold gesture by the DCB, which is aimed at fostering unity and cohesion among these said persons within Demerara, while it is hoped that a strong Demerara team would be selected to oppose their counterparts from the other counties at a later stage.

The format will see two teams from each area association attached to the DCB, namely Georgetown, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara and West Bank Demerara, playing each other once in the preliminary Round and all teams will be announced on October 21.

The top four teams will then do battle in the semis with the winners contesting the final. Matches will be played every Friday at 13:00hrs for an eight-week period, hence the DCB is calling on all interested players to prepare themselves for the matches and make contact with the following persons from the various areas:

From Georgetown, they can call S. Atwell (609-6976) and Nazimul Drepaul (615-8683), Johnny Azeez (649-0243) and O. Sandy (685-3142) are the East Bank of Demerara representatives, Colin Europe (611-6675) and Sheik Mohammed (681 6700) for the East Coast - 611-6675, while the West Bank Demerara representatives are Lalta Digamber (623-9694) and K.
