Daley leads Windies with career-best 48
Shanel Daley continued her good form with the bat as she piloted West Indies Women’s to a challenging 127-7 off their 20 overs against Sri Lanka Women in the opening match of the five-match Twenty20 Series on Wednesday.
The Jamaican left-hander made a stroke-filled 48 off just 28 balls with four boundaries and a six on a good batting surface at Kensington Oval. It was Daley’s best score in a T20 International, beating her previous highest of 35.
She shared a crucial third wicket stand of 39 off 24 balls with Deandra Dottin, who hit a massive six out the ground in 30 off 25 balls. Earlier experienced opener Juliana Nero struck 22 to give the innings a solid start. Late in the innings Amanda Samaroo made 12 not out off 11 balls at the end of the innings, as she helped Daley add 23 off just three overs.
