Cricket umpires seminar Tuesday

Port of Spain, Trinidad - The Central Zone of the TT Scorers and Umpires Association (TTSUA) will begin a series of seminars geared towards upgrading the skills of their membership and the training of those interested in taking up the sport.

The first will be on Tuesday at Presentation College in Chaguanas starting at 6.30 pm.

Among those expected to address the participants are ICC Umpire Peter Nero, top local official Anthony Sanowar and the experienced Lalman Kowlessar, president of the TTSUA and second vice-president of the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board. 

According to Farouk Hosein, a leading official of the Central Zone of the TTCB, the sessions are open to all umpires desirous of refreshing their skill and for novices who intend to get involved in cricket umpiring. 

Hosein said it is important that the umpires avail themselves of the wealth of knowledge available and is also looking forward to attracting a fresh, young cadre of officials to serve the sport for the next generation of cricketers. 

Hosein said among the topics to be discussed on Tuesday are the new laws which are being applied to the game. The umpiring sessions will continue in the coming weeks.
