Bridgetown, Barbados - Former champions R& G Plumbing Coleridge & Parry Old Scholars beat Police by nine runs to complete a clean sweep of the Irvine King/Hugh Barker Zone 'C' in the sixth annual Christ Church Foundation School Joel Garner Twenty20 tapeball tournament at Briar Hall on Monday night.
After winning the toss and being dismissed for 89 in 19.5 overs, Coleridge & Parry, the 2011 champions, hit back to bowl Police out for 80 in 18.2 overs.
Coleridge & Parry medium-pacer Adrian Caddle who was the first player to arrive at the ground more than an hour before the start of play, took four for 12 off four overs and fittingly won the Baron's Smokehouse $100 Player-of-the-Match award.
The Ashton Hall, St. Peter team finished on nine points, while Police were beaten in all three of their matches.
The other side to join Coleridge & Parry in the quarter-finals will be known on Friday, February 28 when the 2012 champions Deighton Griffith Old Scholars clash with first-timers St. Michael Alumni - both on three points - at Dover at 6.30 p.m.
The competition continues on Wednesday with the Barry Gaskin/Bran Williams Zone 'D' leaders Foundation 'B' Old Scholars, on six points, opposing St. Leonard's Old Scholars, who are on three points, at Dover at 7 p.m.
The last match of the preliminaries will be vital for Lodge Old Scholars, on three points, in their battle with newcomers Grantley Adams Memorial, who are yet to earn a point in Zone 'D' at Dover on Friday at 9.30 p.m.
