Port of Spain, Trinidad - First Citizens Clarke Road continued their good form against Queen’s Park Cricket Club so far this season with a dominating first day in Round Five of the National League Premier Division yesterday against the Parkites at Wilson Road.

Clarke Road, who beat Queen’s Park in the final to lift the Sunday League 50-over final recently, dismissed their opponents cheaply for 110 in the first innings. In reply, Clarke Road were themselves bowled out for 218 by stumps, but still have a 108-run first innings advantage over the visitors.

Another good day with the ball could see Clarke Road forcing outright victory. Mukesh Persad took five wickets for the home team against Queen’s Park, and Yannick Ottley added two more.

In reply, Clarke Road were led by Nicholas Pooran, who made 96, while Rangana Latchana (56) also notched a half century. Daron Cruickshank was Queen’s Park’s best bowler with five for 30.

No other team could snatch first innings points on the opening day of the match, but Moosai Sports (363 for nine declared) had a strong start against Esmeralda at Honeymoon Park in Tacarigua.

PowerGen and Merry Boys also score more than 300 runs batting first in their matches against Tableland at Syne Village, and Alescon Comets at Pierre Road respectively.
