City Inn/Inter City Taxi Service sponsors 10/10 tapeball cricket for Upper Corentyne primary schools

Georgetown, Guyana - The City Inn Suites/Inter City Taxi Service of Line Path, Skeldon, Corriverton, Berbice has teamed up with the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) to sponsor the Upper Corentyne Inter Primary School 10/10 tapeball cricket competition.
The competition will feature ten (10) primary schools in the Upper Corentyne Area.
At a simple presentation ceremony held on Friday at the City Inn Suites, Proprietor Mr. Krishnand Jaichand, who is also the President of the Upper Corentyne Chamber of Commerce (UCCC) and an executive member of the UCCA, mentioned that he is very pleased to be a part of what he described as ‘bring back the passion of cricket’ in the younger generation in the Upper Corentyne area.
The businessman stated that he hopes that one day in the near future one of the kids that will be participating in this competition will play for Berbice, Guyana and even the West Indies.
The UCCA President Mr. Dennis D’Andrade, in receiving the sponsorship cheque totaling $110,000, used the opportunity to thank Mr. Jaichand for this much needed sponsorship and encouraged other business entities to follow suit.
The competition, which is approved by the Ministry of Education, will commence on Friday October 18, 2013 at the Crabwood Creek Ground with first round matches involving Crabwood Creek Primary, Skeldon Primary and Corriverton Primary beginning at 12:00 hrs.
The UCCA executives also took the opportunity to encourage all parents, especially those living within close proximity of the ground to come out and support the young kids and be a part of a new era of cricket development in the Upper Corentyne.
