Challengers are Parbhu General Store softball champs

Georgetown, Guyana - Challengers were crowned champions of the K. Parbhu General Store 10/10 softball tournament which was contested on Friday night last at Banks DIH ground, Thirst Park.

Challengers overcame Omesh XI by six wickets and Maryville by eight wickets in the three – team competition.

Omesh XI batted first and compiled 111-7 in 10 overs. Azaad Azeez top scored with 86. Kevin Olford claimed 4-3. Challengers replied with 113-4 in 9.2 overs. Nandsham Boodhoo led the chase with an attacking 30 at the top of the order before Seekumar Budram and Anand Rooplall took their team home with an unbeaten fifth wicket stand of 46. Budram scored 30 and Rooplall 20.

Maryville took first strike and mustered 38-9 after the game was reduced to six overs. Huckumchand Savitir made 19; Nigel Ramdial snared 3-7. Challengers responded with 39-2 in four overs for victory. Budram stroked 20.

Earlier, Omesh XI overcame Maryville by 106 runs. Omesh XI rattled up 186-3 in 10 overs with Azeez top scoring with 88. Maryville were bowled out for 80 in 10 overs in reply. Hemraj Persaud made 25. Omesh Parbhu captured 4-20 for the winners.

Challengers received a trophy for their efforts.
